Congratulations, Sun Devil! Graduation is an exciting milestone, and ASU offers several opportunities to celebrate your achievement with family, friends and the university community.
University Undergraduate Commencement

University Undergraduate Commencement is a university-wide celebration where graduates are recognized by their college as a group and President Crow officially confers degrees. No tickets are required for graduates or guests to attend. There is no formal graduate check-in, but graduates must hand-carry their gown through security before entering the field. Guests will be seated in the lower bowl of the stadium, and the ceremony lasts approximately 75 minutes. Please note that individual graduate names are not announced during this ceremony, and all graduates and guests must comply with the stadium’s Clear Bag Policy.
Follow the steps below to participate in commencement, convocation and celebration events.
Before you can register for graduation ceremonies, you must apply for graduation through MyASU.
Applying for graduation and registering for ceremonies are two separate steps
Applying for graduation begins the process of reviewing and awarding your degree.
Registering for ceremonies reserves your place at commencement, convocation and celebration events.
All undergraduate graduation events require registration.
Once your graduation application has been submitted and processed, registration links will become available through MyASU. Registration for Fall Ceremonies opens in October.
University undergraduate commencement
University Commencement is ASU's university-wide graduation ceremony where bachelor's degrees are formally conferred.
During this ceremony, graduates are recognized by college as a group. Individual names are not announced.
College convocations
College convocations are hosted by your academic college and are where undergraduates are individually recognized.
At convocation, graduates cross the stage, have their names announced and receive individual recognition for their achievement.
Special interest celebrations
ASU also offers celebrations that recognize various student communities and experiences. Graduates are welcome to participate in these events in addition to commencement and convocation.
How do I know I'm registered?
After successfully completing your registration, you will receive a "Ceremony Registration Confirmation" email.
If you do not receive a confirmation email, your registration may not have been completed. Check your registration status in Tassel or contact the ceremony organizer for assistance.
We recommend saving your confirmation email, as it may contain important ceremony information and updates.
Summer Graduates
Students completing degree requirements during the summer term are eligible to participate in December graduation ceremonies.
Your graduation application must be submitted and processed before ceremony registration becomes available.

Before You Arrive
- Review venue policies before attending.
- Follow Mountain America Stadium's Clear Bag Policy.
- Allow extra time for security screening.
- Bring only approved items.
Graduate Arrival
No formal check-in is required for University Undergraduate Commencement.
Graduates should arrive early, proceed through security while hand-carrying their gown and follow staff directions to their designated seating area.
Only graduates, authorized personnel and event staff may access graduate staging areas, field-level seating areas and backstage spaces.
Guest Information
Undergraduate Commencement does not require tickets. Always review the specific information for your ceremony before arrival.
Don’t forget about your graduation regalia!
Graduation regalia is required for most, if not all, graduation events. Please note that at ASU venues, you will be required to hand-carry your regalia through security before finding your seat and then putting on your regalia.

Academic Honors
Eligible undergraduate students may receive honor cords based on their cumulative GPA at the time honors eligibility is verified.
Honor cords are available at the University Registrar Services office. ASU Online students who qualify will receive honor cords by mail.
