Due to the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus and the public health recommendations that come with it, Arizona State University will be celebrating with its graduates in the 2021 Spring University Commencement and convocation events in virtual, online ceremonies. The format may be different, but our enthusiasm for celebration has never been more inspired and we encourage you to join us in honoring ASU graduate and undergraduate students on Monday, May 3. Commencement and Convocation
All college convocations, all special interest convocation events and both University Commencement events require an RSVP for participation. Please contact the dean's office of your college to ask about the RSVP policy for your college convocation event. For information about special interest convocations, please contact the University Ceremonies Office.
Spring 2021 Virtual Celebrations: Undergraduate candidates will have a slide and name announcement that will appear as part of your college or special interest convocation event. Bachelor degree candidates will have their degrees conferred by President Crow during your college virtual event to be held on Monday, May 3.
Summer 2021 Graduates: Undergraduate degree candidates who completed degree requirements in August of 2021 are eligible participate in May events. Candidates must apply for graduation as a summer graduate and pay your fees in order to have the RSVP link appear on your My ASU page. This will allow you to RSVP for spring events. Your name will appear with the listing of students who completed degree requirements in August 2021 in the December 2021 Commencement program.

If you are graduating in May 2021 and eligible for honor cords, we will mail them to your Diploma Address, beginning in late March 2021. We will send you an email before we mail them to you.
Summa Cum Laude = Maroon and Gold, 3.80 to 4.00 GPA
Magna Cum Laude = Gold, 3.60 to 3.79 GPA
Cum Laude = Maroon, 3.40 to 3.59 GPA
Academic recognition is granted to undergraduate candidates only. Students must complete 56 or more hours of in-resident work, in addition to having the appropriate grade point average.
These students will be awarded honor cords to be worn during the commencement ceremony. Your current GPA as verified at the time you request your honor cords will determine which cords you are given. Your diploma and transcripts will reflect the appropriate recognition based on all course work completed at ASU, including courses completed in your final semester.
