Arizona State University is preparing for Fall graduation, and the full ceremony schedule will be posted in September.

Please note: ASU Commencement (the university-wide ceremony) is scheduled for
Monday, December 15.

Graduation vs. Ceremony Registration

  1. Apply for Graduation
    • This means you’ve finished (or will finish) your coursework and are notifying the university to process your degree.
  2. Register for Ceremonies
    • This lets us know you plan to attend and participate in graduation events such as Commencement, Convocation, or Celebrations.

What to expect at each ceremony and celebration

  • PhD Candidates
    • Hooded and recognized by name at both Commencement and Convocation
  • Master's Candidates
    • Hooded as a group at Commencement (no name announcement or stage walk); at Convocation, you’ll walk, have your name announced, and receive your diploma cover.
  • Bachelor's Candidates
    • Do not walk or have their name announced at Commencement; at Convocation, you’ll walk, have your name announced, and receive your diploma cover.
  • Celebrations
    • Students cross the stage and have their name announced, but do not receive a diploma cover.
