Due to the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus and the public health recommendations that come with it, Arizona State University will be celebrating with its graduates in the 2021 Spring University Commencement and convocation events in virtual, online ceremonies. The format may be different, but our enthusiasm for celebration has never been more inspired and we encourage you to join us in honoring ASU graduate and undergraduate students on Monday, May 3. Planning is underway. For more details, please check back here for updates and additional information about online activities. Commencement FAQ page
Letter of Congratulations
From President Crow
Congratulations on the completion of your degree program at Arizona State University. You deserve to be very proud of this significant academic achievement.
I invite you, along with your family and friends, to celebrate your accomplishment at the University Commencement Ceremony. The university-wide presentation of degree candidates and conferral of degrees will be virtual, premiering on the morning of May 3. You will be able to view the ceremony from anywhere in the world anytime after the premiere of the ceremony, increasing the opportunity for participation, particularly for out-of-state and international students and their families.
In-person celebrations for graduates will occur at the individual college level, hosted by academic deans. Events associated with each college will include the hooding of doctoral candidates and many smaller innovative events. Graduates will have a chance to personalize their announcement slide with a photo and personal message. Information with details about this process will be sent to graduating students at their asu.edu accounts.
Commencement is a special celebration, with tradition and symbolism that date back centuries in the history of higher education. This is the occasion when your degree will be officially conferred upon you. Students, faculty and staff from all colleges and all ASU campuses participate in University Commencement. Please plan to join the ASU community as we celebrate our graduates and those who have supported them on their journey.
If you have questions regarding commencement or other graduation activities, please contact the Office of University Ceremonies. Again, congratulations.
